Your Brand

When did you create your brand?

I created it the moment I started making watch faces, around August 2017. It’s a good practice to have a brand name at the start, to create identity in the community. I created the brand name “Glance” to remind me that a user must be able to tell time on their wrist at a “Glance”

I have at least 30+ active watch faces in my collection.

Do you have a particular theme you like to create your designs around? If so, what is it?

I have no particular theme but I normally refer to an actual watch for design inspiration. I am more comfortable making hybrid watch faces.

Most downloaded watch face is one of my free watch faces called Glance_Scott. For paid watch faces my current top seller are the Glance Onyx and Glance Active.

Watch Face Community

Please talk a little about the watch face community and what makes it interesting/special for you?

The watch face community in general is vibrant and interesting. You can see different typed of people with different styled of watch faces. With the number of developers right now, you can just see the endless possibility of what can be achieved with the amazing talent and creativity for designing watch faces.

Why should designers consider developing watch faces?

Designers should consider developing watch faces because the design possibilities are endless and the Galaxy Watch Designer is a very useful tool for watch face designers. If not for Galaxy Watch Designer I wouldn’t be making watch faces at all. It is also a good way to earn a side income.

What are the common pitfalls you see when designers first start out and how should they avoid them?

Common pitfalls to a starting developer is neglecting criticism or feedback. As a designer /developer, take those criticism or feedback positively because it is one way of improving your designs and a way in knowing what the user really wants. Patience is also very important as a starting developer, so don’t rush into getting a design out.

If you could a new developer one piece of advice, what would it be?

I still consider myself new to designing watch faces so this is the only advice I can give is to - Keep learning, keep improving, keep designing and be creative.

Which developers create watch face designs you really like and that inspire you?

I admire the designs of Nucleon’s watch faces.
