Where abouts are you from?
My name is Samet DOGAN and I live in Turkey's Bursa city.
What is your technical background and education?
I studied Computer Programming Training and I finished my 4-year undergraduate education in Turkey. In addition, I have taken graphic design courses and I am currently working as a graphic designer.
What inspires you to design watch faces?
Firstly, I imagine that when I am designing watch faces, I'm producing projects in my mind and I bring them to life. I choose the features I want to use. I do my research as the best features to incorporate and then I begin the design process.
What are some of your hobbies?
I have several hobbies including trekking on a regular basis, skiing in Uludağ, diving and cycling with my bicycle club are some my favorite hobbies.

Your Brand
When did you create your brand?
I created my brand SDesign back in January 2017 so I have been designing watches now for 2 years.
How many watch faces do you have in your collection right now?
I currently have more than 85 watch faces in my collection, with a total of 30 of them having millions of custom combinations.
Do you have a particular theme you like to create your designs around? If so, what is it?
I am inspired by everything around me, such as brochures, posters and technological designs. I then try and incorporate these inspirations into my watch face designs.

What designs are you working on next and when can we expect to see them?
I'm thinking about designing more digital designs in the future. I like the look of old digital clocks and they also seem popular among customers.

Right now I'm only designing for Gear/Galaxy Watch Faces at Samsung.
Watch Face Community
Please talk a little about the watch face community and what makes it interesting/special for you?
Smart Watch means technology. Watch faces are the most important part of smart watches. I love technology and being able to provide beautiful designs for the community, this makes me very happy.
Why should designers consider developing watch faces?
Designers should develop the watch face to meet their customers needs. Bringing these designs to life and seeing the satisfaction with the customers is what makes this process worthwhile for me.
What are the common pitfalls you see when designers first start out and how should they avoid them?
Designers need to maintain patience when they first start designing. It is a very enjoyable process and you should not rush through it.
If you could a new developer one piece of advice, what would it be?
I would recommend that designers focus on making original designs and to try and avoid copying others. Focus on your own designs and what makes them unique.
Which developers create watch face designs you really like and that inspire you?
Most of the watch face designs I've seen and liked are from developers like MD Watch Faces and Broda.
